“Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer;”
Romans 12:12 KJV
“For to him that is joined to all the living there is hope: for a living dog is better than a dead lion.”
Ecclesiastes 9:4 KJV
“The thought of my pain, my homelessness, is bitter poison; I think of it constantly and my spirit is depressed. Yet hope returns when I remember this one thing: The LORD ‘s unfailing love and mercy still continue, Fresh as the morning, as sure as the sunrise. The LORD is all I have, and so I put my hope in him.”
Lamentations 3:19-24 GNB
The height of hopelessness is death. As long as a man is not dead, there is hope. There is hope of a better life; a better health condition; a better marriage; a better country; a better family; a better relationship and in deed a better you. That is why you CANNOT afford to end it in suicide. IT IS NEVER AN OPTION!
But before you talk too much about what you don’t have; about your ‘many’ challenges; about the negatives; about your disadvantages: about your misfortunes etc, take a few minute to think about the positives; the advantages; the goods and the many things you have which have remained dreams for others.
First, your health. Wow! Your greatest asset. Whatever your ambitions, whatever your dream of a good life, you can only even think of them because you have a good health condition. Nothing in the world matters to a seriously sick man except to be healed of his sickness. Bring all the money in the world to a man in serious, agonising pain and he won’t even look at your face, his only desire at the time is to get off the sick bed.
While you’re still unhappy you’ve not secured your Christmas wears, someone’s got very bad pains and wounds all over his body that he couldn’t even put a cloth on. While you’re crying over another pair of shoe, someone’s got no leg. Wristwatch is your own problem but someone don’t even have a wrist. You’re angry with God that you don’t have a car yet, but someone is only praying to be able to walk around with his legs just like you. Yes, I know you’re not happy about your sickness, but that same sickness has killed many. They are dead and hopeless!
While we desire and pray for better things, we should also remember to thank God immensely for the numerous benefits we enjoy. If you put a value on the parts of your body (kidney, heart, eyes, nose, hands etc), then you’ll know you’re a billionaire. You have been carrying around billions of dollars. And you think you’re poor? No, you’re not! If your kidney suddenly stops working (GOD FORBIDS), how much would you need to fix it? Be grateful!
However, true joy and hope is only found in God through Jesus. If you haven’t accepted him, I invite you today.
As we move toward the end of the year, and many feel disappointed about many things they have not achieved or acquired, think of the numerous benefits of God in and around your life and REJOICE. After all, better is a living dog than a dead lion! REJOICE IN HOPE!
Thank you and God bless you richly.
